Even while having surgery the experienced Frenchman is luckily still expected to be out of action for the original expected three months, but still remains a huge blow for an Arsenal team that definitely didn’t need more injuries.
The official Arsenal website Arsenal.com issued the following statement:
Bacary Sagna has this afternoon undergone further assessment and investigations on his fractured right fibula with the Club’s medical team and specialists. As a result of these tests, Bacary has had surgery to stabilise the injury.
The surgery went according to plan and there has been no significant alteration to the initial prognosis that Bacary will be out of action for a minimum of three months.
Everyone at the Club wishes Bacary a speedy recovery.
The man himself also let his status be known through Twitter saying:
Hello my friends.thanks for your support.just woke up from surgery and still feel high, lol hope to recover and be back soon. I send u my ♥
The injury is sure to be a huge headache for Arsene Wenger as Carl Jenkinson is simply way to inexperienced and simply not good enough to be a regular right-back for Arsenal. The same goes for Djourou who was absolutely awful against Blackburn in that position. Hopefully Vermaelen makes a quick recovery and it would surely be prefered to put Koscielny in on the right with Per and Thomas in the centre of defence. What do you think? Leave a comment below.
