Arsenal’s vital defensive midfielder Alex Song has decided to accept a Football Association charge of violent conduct and will now serve a three-match suspension along with team-mate Gervinho.
Both incidents were from Saturdays draw with Newcastle, and both involved the troubled Joey Barton who managed to get away scot free. Song appeared to stamp on the leg of Barton,
so the FA had sufficient evidence to charge the Cameroon international with a hefty 3 match ban.
With new signing Gervinho, also about to start a three-game ban for slapping Barton, the pair will miss vital games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Swansea to add further woes to Arsenal’s already depleted side.
Both clubs were also charged with failing to control their players and have until tomorrow to respond.
