I guess this isn’t really Arsenal news, but is definitely still news that Arsenal fans would want to hear anyway as the Spuds yet again will have to make do with the Europa League next campaign after arguably having their best season in the Premier League.
After a season in which they were widely tipped to finally finish above Arsenal, where at one point they had a ten point advantage, the Spuds came crashing back down to Earth as a combination of themselves choking and Arsenal coming home strong resulted in a fourth place finish, two points adrift of the Gunners.
No doubt Spuds fans and players alike would have been biting their nails as they watched Chelsea try and dash their Champions League hopes and dash their hopes Chelsea did.
Chelsea put on a brilliant tactical display to record a memorable victory away to German favourites Bayern Munich. Props must go to Gary Cahill and Didier Drogba who both had outstanding performances and significantly helped the Blues lift the Champions League trophy and also take Tottenham’s Champions League spot.
In any case, their are sure to be some implications of Chelsea’s victory on Tottenham with the futures of Modric and Bale surely now up in the air. As well as their own players, transfer targets must also be second guessing moves to White Hart Lane with no possibility of Champions League next season. No doubt many eyes will be on Vertonghen who is a reported target of both Arsenal and Spurs.
- Three key players return in major boost for Arsenal vs Villarreal
- Arsenal add ex-academy star priced at £10m to summer shortlist
- Arsenal are close to signing €80m midfielder for a ‘reduced price’
What did you guys feel when you saw Chelsea lift the cup? Did you feel redemption for the premature ‘mind that gap’ drama or did you want Bayern to win regardless of Tottenham’s position? I must admit I really felt for Bastian Schweinsteiger after his penalty miss. Feel free to leave a comment below!
