Despite the shortcomings of the first-team, the Under-19’s are all smiles after pulling off an Italian job by beating the current title holders Inter Milan.
The hard fought win means that the young Gunners will progress into the last eight of the tournament, designed to be like a Champions League for young up and coming players.
While the game was highly anticipated, the weather conditions made for a scrappy affair as constant rain made for a wet and boggy pitch.
Despite the conditions, the winning goal was anything but scrappy with captain Nico Yennaris stepping up to thump the ball home from 20 yards out after picking a loose ball up close to the halfway line.
From then on there was a constant barrage on the Arsenal goal, but the young Gunners stayed strong to absorb the onslaught and preserve their 1-0 lead until the final whistle. Good luck to the team when they face CSKA Moscow in the next round!
