The Mexican was loaned to the Spanish side last season netting 12 goals in 29 appearances to help the Sociedad to an 11th place finish in La Liga, along the way netting some superb goals.
Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay is quoted as Goal.com as saying on Vela:
We’re getting somewhere, but there’s nothing set in stone yet.
As the talks have evolved, I’m moderately optimistic, but there’s no deal yet.
It is quite apparent that Vela’s style is more suited to the Spanish style of play with the Mexican perhaps lacking some of the physicality required by the English Premier League.
In saying this however, you can’t help but feel that the Mexican would be a much better choice than the likes of Chamakh and Park who have failed to impress at the Emirates.
Over the years Vela has showed some exceptional skill and clearly has natural eye for goal and the ability to finish. Although he has been relatively inconsistent while at the Emirates, I can’t help but feel he should have been given more chances in the first-team.
