Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Tuesday’s Carling Cup clash against Manchester City won’t revolve around the return of ex-gunner Samir Nasri.
It will be the first time the French playmaker will have returned to the Emirates following his big money move to the Etihad Stadium last summer and Wenger is hopeful that their won’t be negativity towards Nasri in place of support to the home team.
Wenger said on the situation:
You want to respect the players who have played for us, that is what we expect.
But it is always more important to support our team on Tuesday night, than to be negative towards the players of Manchester City.
What is important is we are united to win the game.
While Nasri will be happy to be in the current squad of the Premier League leaders, no doubt he will want to impress after not really getting the amount of first-team opportunities he would have liked. Perhaps it is just desserts?
