Arsenal have received another injury blow with Jack Wilshere set to go under the knife on his right ankle amidst revelations that his stress fracture did not respond positively to natural healing.
The Arsenal staff were hoping that with the aid of a protective boot, the stress fracture would heal itself and avoid the need for surgery but it was not to be as the Englishman will have an operation on Monday.
An Arsenal spokesman said to the official Arsenal website Arsenal.com:
We have given Jack time to heal naturally which is important wherever possible with a young player. The latest scans show surgery is needed. Everyone at the Club wishes Jack a speedy recovery.
The surgery means that Wilshere is expected to be out of action until at least turn of the year and comes as a huge blow to the understrength Arsenal midfield and also the English national side
Hopefully the surgery will be successful and Wilshere will have a speedy recovery so he comes back as soon as possible!
