Arsenal are not interested in Barcelona starlet Sergi Samper despite reports emerging from their local press suggesting otherwise, that is according to El Confidencial’s Kike Marin.
@Arsenal #Arsenal is not interested now in Sergi Samper. He had his chance like Bellerín and Toral and refused to leave #Barça. Only rumours

@Arsenal is the club more utilized for rumours in Spain. Don’t believe all they says about some players. #Arsenal = Quality guarantied. Ok? — Kike Marin** (@Kike_Marin_) July 22, 2015
Catalan paper Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday that Arsene Wenger was ready to activate the midfielder’s €12million release clause with the 20-year-old also keen on a move.
Samper was part of the same group in La Masia as our current rising stars Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral with Kike suggesting that he had the chance to join the duo and come to London but rejected the offer.
The reliable Kike also alludes to a very important fact; we’re no longer in the market of buying players with potential given the current strength of our squad.

Wenger is looking for ready-made stars such as Petr Cech and Alexis Sanchez and until those calibre of targets become available, all rumours linking us to players with potential should be ignored.
As the Samper rumour is flushed down the toilet, hopefully, the boss is still aiming to address the holding midfield area with the over-reliance on Francis Coquelin unsustainable.
