Arsene Wenger is seemingly on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with heavy links to Karim Benzema in recent weeks (via the Metro). The latest star to be linked with a move to the Emirates is former Manchester City man Alvaro Negredo (via the Metro), but the links seem somewhat tenuous.
The report claims Valencia are looking to offload the misfiring forward, who has struggled for form and fitness ever since 2013/14. They allegedly have to pay £10m this summer and another £10m in 2016, but are keen to get rid of him and have offered him to us.
The Spaniard looked superb when he first arrived at Manchester City from Sevilla, and helped his side to the Premier League title. He isn’t the same player he once was however, and with Wenger only targeting top talent, it’s hard to see him bringing Negredo to the club.

Six hints that suggest Benzema now looks Arsenal bound
There is no point in bringing an average striker to the club, as he won’t be an improvement on the likes of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud. Therefore, if we can’t convince a striker the calibre of Karim Benzema to join the club, then we shouldn’t waste our money.
