According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal are in ‘advanced talks’ with Real Madrid to sign Mesut Ozil.
The German international was left out of Madrid’s side to face Athletic Bilbao in their 3-1 La Liga win, however Ancelotti has maintained the omission is not transfer related as he hopes to hold onto the attacking midfielder.
The 24-year-old was followed by Arsenal prior to his move to the Bernabeu in 2010, and could be set to leave within the fast closing summer window regardless of the Madrid’s bosses comments to the media.
The Gareth Bale deal has finally been announced meaning Ozil will find it even harder to gain more playing time under the new manager this season, and will have one eye on next years World Cup in Brazil.
The Germany international would be a big signing for the Gunners especially if they pip Manchester United to his signature, and would add further flare to the midfield.
