Arsene Wenger is reportedly planning a shock move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has we look to strengthen our forward positions this summer, the Daily Star reports.
Dzeko, after being instrumental in Man City’s title-winning campaign of 2013/14, found first-team opportunities hard to come by last season.
His position in the pecking order was further jeopardised in January after Manuel Pellegrini signed former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony.
However, the Daily Star believes that Dzeko is on Wenger’s shortlist in terms of potential striker options with the boss keen on adding another front man to our squad.
At times last season, Olivier Giroud was our only recognised forward with Danny Welbeck struggling with the same knee injury which is still bothering him.
Dzeko, despite his obvious talents, has never held down a first choice position at Man City and Wenger may be wary of that before making a move for the Bosnian.

Also, his style of play is similar to Giroud’s, with the two enjoying playing with their back to goal and bringing teammates into play.
If Wenger is to add another striker this summer, he should target one with completely different qualities to Giroud and address our lack of pace in forward positions.
