The pressure was certainly on our first team players as we headed to Crystal Palace this past Sunday afternoon, with our shock opening day defeat to West Ham United fresh in everyone’s minds.
Going into the campaign with the most optimism surrounding us in years, the defeat certainly raised questions as to our mental strength and whether we were able to handle being labelled as genuine title winners.
Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez grabbed our goals, although Alexis’s strike may be awarded as a Damien Delaney own goal after deflecting the header past his own goalkeeper.
Given that the hosts equalised shortly after our opening goal, we showed great character to return after half-time with a different performance and hem Crystal Palace in their own half.
