Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has revealed that getting used to the Premier League following a gruelling first season in English football is the reason behind his impressive form, he told Arsenal Player.
Özil struggled to maintain his form in his first season last year, culminating in his first serious injury which kept him out for two months.
The German wizard benefited from the long-term knee injury he suffered this term however, and returned visibly bulkier with the hard work in the gym certainly paying off.
Since the turn of the year, Özil has been one of our most influential players and has assumed responsibility in his central role.

“When you come to England and watch the games, you can feel how tough it is,” Özil was quoted as saying.

“Here, the season is very long and with many games. You have to play in midweek too and without a winter break.
“As a player, that’s something you have to get used to.”
Despite his considerable improvement, Özil can still take his game up a few more levels. Based on pure talent, he’s the most gifted player in our squad, but often looks like he isn’t playing to his maximum capacity.
Having said that, the notion that he should offer more defensively is slightly flawed considering that he’s an attacking midfielder. Rather, Özil should be encouraged to do more with the ball at his feet.
Hopefully he produces a moment of magic against Aston Villa on Saturday.
