Arsenal starlet Gedion Zelalem is set for a surprise loan move to Rangers after starring for our U-21 side against Fulham this week, STV Sport reports.

Zelalem is yet to depart on loan since he arrived at the tender age of 15, and after making his first-team debut against Coventry City in the 2013/14 season, it seemed like we had another crown jewel waiting to emerge.
However, Zelalem hasn’t developed as quickly as we might have expected him to and it looks like a loan to Scotland is imminent for the gifted playmaker.
Having said that, just why the club has agreed to send him to Rangers is rather odd, given that they’re competing in Scotland’s second tier. It’s certainly a questionable and somewhat surprising move, but presumably there’s method in Arsene Wenger’s madness.

Zelalem’s physicality has always been his deficiency and Wenger may be looking to beef him up by sending him to a league known for its toughness.
Hopefully the teenager can use this loan spell to brush up on the qualities he currently lacks and subsequently return ready to claim a first-team berth.
