Arsene Wenger is plotting to raid Barcelona’s famed youth system once again, with local reports suggesting that we’ve made a ‘significant’ offer for 16-year-old midfielder Oriol Busquets, Catalan newspaper Sport reports.
The starlet has no relation to his senior namesake Sergio, but is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents and could soon be promoted to the first team, the report claims.
We have made a habit of poaching players from Barcelona’s La Masia academy, with the most recent high-profile acquisition, Hector Bellerin, making waves in the first team.
When analysing the midfield targets we’re constantly linked with, it is clear that Wenger is looking for a specific type of player to anchor our midfield.

According to Sport though, Busquets is keen to make it at Barcelona and sees his future at the club; however, if first team opportunities start to become rare, a move to us may seem like an attractive proposition for him.
