Our summer search for a world class striker is no secret, and we’ve been heavily linked with a move for Karim Benzema (via the Metro). With the Frenchman seemingly staying put at Real Madrid this season however, we have turned our attention to Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, according to the Express.
The Polish striker has an excellent record with the German giants – and with Borussia Dortmund before them – despite seemingly struggling to settle in at the Allianz arena. He has found life difficult at times since his move to the Champions League winners (via the Daily Mail), and has looked low on confidence on occasion. He is still an exceptional forward however, and would walk into almost any team in Europe.
The Express’ report claims we are plotting a €49.5m (£35m) bid for the prolific target man, but you would expect Munich to demand far more for his services.
With the financial restraints of building the Emirates no longer holding us back in the market, we are more than capable of breaking our transfer record to bring Lewandowski to the club.
We are apparently facing competition from Manchester United (via the Mirror), so speed may be key if we are hoping to get our man.
