Arsenal are plotting a summer bid for Alexis Sanchez after it became apparent that the Chilean will be made available for transfer by Barcelona at the end of the season, according to reports in Mirror.
The 25 year old has enjoyed his best season in a Barca shirt, scoring 20 goals and providing 15 assists in his 53 appearances so far this campaign. However, it seems like the Chilean international hasn’t done enough to convince the clubs bosses and with the Spanish giants likely to undergo a summer overhaul, he is likely to be one of the casualties.
The report states that Arsene Wenger is keen on acquiring him during the summer transfer window and is ready to make a £20 million bid. Juventus were heavy favourites to sign Sanchez and few sources earlier stated that they had reached a verbal agreement.
However now that Arsenal have registered their interest, a bidding war is likely to happen to sign the attacker. It further suggests that Sanchez knows his days at the Nou Camp are numbered and would be open to the idea of moving to the Premier League.
He has blistering speed, plenty of quality, an eye for goal and still has his best years ahead of him. He would provide this Arsenal team with a frightening new dimension. He’s not only intricate and classy with the ball at his feet, but his lighting speed enables him to stretch defences and create space for others.
The Gunners have found themselves heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud this season, with few alternatives available to the striker. The Frenchman has shown signs of fatigue at various periods of the season, with Yaya Sanogo still untested in the Premier League and Nicklas Bendtner has proven unreliable both on and off the pitch.

The Chilean has the added attraction that he can move onto the wing as well as playing as as the lead striker. With Theo Walcott potentially set to miss the beginning of the season with his knee injury, that quality would help Arsenal deal with his loss in the early stages of the season.
Sanchez would be a wonderful signing for the Gunners and if there’s even the tiniest chance of a deal being done, Wenger would be wise to splash the cash on this scintillating talent.
