The Rumour: according to the Daily Star, Arsenal are eyeing up a club record bid for another attacking midfielder this winter, the one position they DO NOT need to strengthen this January.
Isco is the man in question, a player who moved to Real Madrid in 2013 and help end Mesut Ozil’s stint in Spain. The Spain international is said to want out of the Bernabeu after falling in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Valued at an insane £62m, the central midfielder has played in a deeper role of late with Luke Modric absent through injury. He featured regularly for Carlo Ancelotti’s side while Bale was absent with his various niggling injuries but has struggled to make it into the top bracket of star performers since in the star studded Madrid lineup.
Should we buy?
No. An absolutely ludicrous rumour and certainly one for the rubbish bin. Not only do we have more than enough attacking midfielders in our collection, our priorities are elsewhere and Wenger will almost certainly not splash that kind of money on a player we certainly have no need for let alone what is he actually worth.
