Arsenal have reportedly proposed an incredible Alexis Sanchez for Karim Benzema swap deal with Real Madrid (via Don Balon).
Silly Season is in full bloom this transfer window, especially so considering the incredible amounts of money being spent by clubs in England.
Things have now been taken a step further with reports in Spain claiming that Arsenal have made an incredible proposal to Real Madrid.
It concerns Alexis Sanchez who, as has been widely reported, has been strongly linked with a move away from the club as he enters the final year of his contract.
The proposal, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon was a swap deal with Champions League holders Real Madrid which would see Alexis Sanchez head to the Santiago Bernabeu in exchange for Karim Benzema coming the other way.
Arsene Wenger has long been a public supporter of Benzema and has reportedly tried to sign the striker on a number of occasions.
- Arsenal must outmanoeuvre Galatasaray to win race for £2m ‘bargain’ transfer
- Arsenal reportedly set to sign free agent after impressive trial
- Arsenal have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich II star
However, it seems that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is a fan of the Frenchman’s as well and categorically refused any potential swap deal for his centre forward.
Swap deals are incredibly rare in football, especially when they involve some of the best players in Europe so a transfer like this would have been very unlikely. Arsenal have made it clear that they want to keep Alexis Sanchez and Real Madrid have the most united squad they’ve had in decades so why would either party even want this deal?
