It seems Arsenal may miss out on their number one transfer target this summer with the speculation growing that Napoli are close to sealing a deal for Gonzalo Higuain.
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed the Italian outfit club are in talks to sign the Real Madrid forward who appeared on the brink of joining Arsenal, with his father recently claiming we would see his son in the Premier League soon.
However it all seemed too good to be true. Arsenal signing a world class striker to finally replace Robin van Persie? Surely not? It’s not like they have any cash..right? Well they do and again it seems they could miss out on a brilliant signing by not forking out the extra necessary cash.
Napoli have plenty of money to spend after the sale of their star Cavani to PSG and they plan to spend a chunk of it on the Argentine striker.
According to the Express de Laurentiis said:
It’s true that we’re negotiating for Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao.
The news will come as a blow for Gooners who have just been hoping there is some sort of delay due to Wenger’s involvement in pre-season preparations but it really seems that they have turned their intentions elsewhere – potentially to Luis Suarez.

Spending £25m on Higuain is not a lot to ask in the scheme of things, he would be a better buy than spending £35-40m on the carnivorous Suarez, and his wages could potentially be less too.
What are your thoughts Gooners? Are you all as frustrated as we are? At least we won another pre-season game scoring 7 goals, I guess this article about Giroud will be relevant once again..
