Arsenal’s long standing connection with Karim Benzema looks set for yet another transfer saga with Real Madrid reportedly open to selling the French striker this summer (via Sun).
Naturally the Gunners are the first name to be linked with the 29-year-old who has been flirted with Arsene Wenger’s side since his early Lyon days.
The report claims Madrid have decided it’s time to upgrade the centre forward who has failed to score in any of last five outings, and are slapping a hefty £50million price tag on the France international.
Of course you have to take this report with a pinch of salt, but considering Madrid’s willingness to let Gonzalo Higuain leave in 2013 despite his obvious calibre, the Spanish giants are prone to ruthless decisions – something Arsenal could benefit from.
Chelsea are believed to be monitoring the situation which always spells trouble, but should Alexis Sanchez leave in the summer, Benzema is the perfect replacement and Arsenal should be proactive with limited centre forwards on the market.
Would you welcome Benzema to Emirates this summer? Of course his compatriot Antoine Greizmann would be the preferred option but the price tag is likely to be matched only by Manchester United.
