Our interest in Karim Benzema is well documented, and a move appears to be drawing closer and closer, according to the Daily Star. The report claims we have sent representatives to Spain to conclude the deal, with the fee allegedly in the region of €50m.
The reports emanate from Guardian and FourFourTwo writer Emanuele Guilianelli, who revealed the news on Twitter.

This is the same reporter who originally claimed Benzema would join Arsenal, insisting that a four year deal worth €9m a year had been agreed.

With nothing concrete yet, we must continue to take these rumours with a pinch of salt. The fact that the reports are building such speed is certainly promising though, and it’s hard not to get at least a little excited.

Benzema would be a fantastic signing, and would unquestionably take us to the next level. We’ve arguably already built a team capable of challenging for the title, but a couple more signings are needed if we want to truly reach the pinnacle.
We now have the financial power to sign almost any player, so hopefully we can get this deal over the line sooner rather than later.
