Ramsey has worn the No.16 ever since he arrived at Arsenal, with the player becoming known for that number. He wears No.10 with Wales, but it’s 16 that Arsenal fans have both loved and hated him in.
It’s unclear whether this means anything for the 25-year-old in terms of his place with Arsenal next season, although it does seem likely that he’ll play a major part in Arsene Wenger’s plans.
The Frenchman is a huge fan of Aaron Ramsey, and consistently tries to crowbar him into the team even when he really doesn’t fit. We’ve seen him in a defensive midfield role, a box-to-box role, playing No.10, and pushed out onto the wing. It’s still unclear where he fits in with Arsenal’s current set-up, but the fact that he’s been handed the No.8 suggests he’ll once again be a regular fixture

It’s a big responsibility taking the No.8 shirt, with some big names wearing it before Ramsey. Freddie Ljungberg and Ian Wright donning the shirt in years past (let’s just ignore Samir Nasri).
Arsenal transfer news
This announcement comes shortly after Alexis Sanchez was revealed to be taking the No.7, and there could still be more changes before the season starts.
