With the winter transfer window fast approaching many Gooners will be checking the news daily in hope for some reinforcements, and there are positive signs with a host of players linked to an Emirates move this winter.
Although Wenger remains coy on player gossip, there are a few possible acquisitions that could eventuate this January, but he says there is no guarantee of quick signings stating:
“If possible, yes [we will do our business early]. But we don’t decide that. The pace of the transfer deal is not only decided by us.”

Short-term loan. The Frenchman has been hotly tipped to make another temporary move to his former club this winter similarly to last year where he played a key role in a number of fixtures scoring a couple of crucial goals.
But despite his current club New York Red Bulls stating they are not keen for their star man to spend the offseason playing top class football, Arsene Wenger has maintained a deal is still not out of the question with the legendary striker training with the Gunners once again.
The Frenchman told Arsenal’s official website: “[I have] not completely ruled it out but I haven’t spoken about it with him at all.”
Expiring contract with Schalke in June 2013. The German/English starlet is another player linked from the Bundesliga outfit. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar seemed a probable purchase however he put pen to paper and committed his future to Schalke. Holtby has done the opposite and will either leave for free in the summer or for a cut-price fee this winter.
Board member Horst Heldt reportedly said: “We had hoped Lewis saw his future at Schalke beyond the end of this season. But he has made a personal decision that we respect.”
The versatile, attacking minded midfielder has been allegedly tracked by Arsenal for some time and Wenger will be wise to make a move this winter to fend off interest from Liverpool.
£7m release clause in current contract. The Newcastle frontman has been in hot form this season shining more than compatriot Cisse. With his bargain release clause now common knowledge and his public admiration for Arsenal as his ‘dream club’, naturally speculation is aplenty surrounding a proposed switch this winter.
His cheap price tag and ability to score goals, something Arsenal’s strikers have struggled to do this season, makes the Senegalese striker a very possible acquisition however Wenger has squashed any such rumours with his side set to face Ba’s this Saturday.
The Arsenal manager told reporters:
“It is not right to speak about [Ba] because he plays against us [on Saturday]. If you ask ‘do we [want to] sign him?’ I say no.”
Wenger is very secretive with his transfer deals, so despite denying any such link it does not mean the Frenchman is actually opposed to the idea, he is just not allowed to tell the press.
Long-term target. The French combative midfielder has been long linked with the Gunners even prior to the departure of Alex Song over the summer. The Rennes bad boy hit a new low recently after receiving a massive ban from his national side potentially putting his spot in jeopardy for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
Rennes have apparently been trying to offload the physical midfielder according to reports in France, and Arsenal have been offered a cut-price deal by a third-party agent believed to be in the region of £8million – half the price they sold Song for.
So there you go, there’s the latest and most popular rumours at present bar the David Villa gossip which is just a joke, and a lack of recent rumours involving Spanish duo Adrian Lopez and Fernando Llorente.
