The flying Dutchman has been in devastating form having scored 33 goals in 32 games this calender year, and consequently is sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League goal scoring charts.
But Van Persie’s contract expires in 18 months time and has yet to begin talks about extending his deal as he would rather focus on the season at hand first before opening negotiations.
Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is aware of the striker’s situation and is considering launching a big money offer to end Real Madrid’s striking woes.
Manchester City are still the favourites to sign Van Persie (11/4 at Skybet) and they have too placed the Dutch international at the top of their wish list and they could offer him a staggering £250,000-a-week which is a fee Arsenal just can not match.
Rumours will be flying around left, right and centre in the coming window, and of course next summer. All Gunner fans will be hoping for is to see their captain resign at the beginning of the window, prior to the Euro championship so their minds can be at ease for the remainder of the window.

I think Van Persie will sign a fresh contract, he clearly loves the club and has no real ‘ties’ to another top flight club like Madrid or City, and he isn’t in football for the money. If he can avoid any injury this season, he should be around next season to captain the side, and if we get any form of silverware this season then that should seal the deal.
