Arsenal are reportedly preparing to lock horns with Chelsea for the signature of Barcelona’s next teenage sensation Gerard Deulofeu, according to French website LesTransferts.fr.
Deulofeu is only 17 and is therefore not allowed to sign a professional contract with any club until he turns 18 in Spain. The youngster is highly rated by Barcelona and the Spanish side see him as the next young prodigy to come through their long line of successful youth products at the Camp Nou, which includes the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas and of course the world’s best footballer, Lionel Messi.
Barcelona would naturally not want to loose the young Spanish star, but as he is yet to sign a professional deal, and Barcelona’s extremely stacked team, there is an opportunity for the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to tempt him to England.
Meanwhile, rumours have been flying around just a week after the closure of the transfer window that the Gunners will be aiming to bring in either Gotze, M’Vila or Cahill in January.
Dortmund’s Gotze has become hot property after his outstanding performances at club and international level, and the 19-year-old has been tipped for a big money move either in the winter or next summer, with Arsenal heading the queue for his services. The Gunners had an offer turned down towards the end of the transfer window, with Dortmund and the players agent wanting him to remain at the Bundasliga club for at least one more season.
Antonetti, Rennes manager, admits there is little chance of M’Vila seeing out his contract that is set to run until 2015.

He told L’Equipe: “With us he will be able to keep fresh and will be well prepared for Euro 2012 as well.
“Then he will take flight and will go very high in the game because there are very few players like him.
“If he continues the way he is going, he could end up playing in front of the Barca defence.”
Will any of these players head to Arsenal in January? I think not. Maybe M’Vila, but I don’t see the Gunners board splashing out on Gotze but there is a chance of acquiring another Barca youngster in 17 year old Deulofeu, although it is probable they will just make him one of the best players in the game, then when he reaches his peak, he’s sold. Gary Cahill is in his last year of his contract, which means that if he isn’t sold in January then he can leave for free, Chelsea are currently favourites at the bookies to land his services in the January transfer window, with Arsenal third in line.
