Arsenal are ready to table an opening bid of £10 million for Celtic powerhouse Victor Wanyama. Arsene Wenger is believed to be a long term admirer of the Kenyan midfielder and is now ready to match Celtic’s asking price.
The ScottishSun believes Arsenal are poised to slap in a £10 million-plus bid for Celtic star Wanyama.
Other Premiership sides, including Stoke city, Newcastle and Southampton have been linked with him. But Arsenal now look favourites to grab the powerful Wanyama who, privately, is believed to be keen to move to a higher level.
The website stated:
Gunners boss and long term admirer Arsene Wenger is finally ready to spend big on the Kenyan midfielder — and meet the SPL champs’ asking price. Celtic’s chiefs are also believed to be aware of Wenger’s interest and are bracing themselves for a huge offer for the 21-year-old who has two years left on his contract.
Wanyama turned down a new Celtic contract in October and at the time boss Neil Lennon placed a £25million valuation on the player snapped up from Belgians Germinal Beerschot for £900,000 in 2011.
Earlier Arsenal Legend Perry Groves urged Arsene Wenger to invest heavily this summer – and he believed Celtic’s star midfielder Victor Wanyama should be his first transfer target.

We need big players who can step up to the plate and make an impact against the bigger teams, because that is what let us down last year – we had a woeful record against the other teams in the top four.
We need strong mentalities, players who can impose themselves. I would like to see experienced lads who can come straight into the starting XI, not players who take time to gel.
I really like Wanyama – he is destined for big things. He may be young but he plays for a massive club, has lots of experience for a young player, and he fits the Wenger model – he is hungry, strong and technically very good.
I think he would offer real protection for the back four, and a real thrust and drive going forward.
Signing Wanyama would be a master stroke for Wenger as he would slot seamlessly into the EPL, and very few players have his kind of physique, if any. He has the determination and work ethic to hassle down and tirelessly dispossess opponents; all the while committing only a few fouls. He would also increase our aerial threat during set pieces. He would be the missing link that releases the creative shackles on Santi and Wilshere, allowing them to do what they do best: unlock defences.
Best of all, at £10M, he’d be signing a player who would make an instant impact, yet still have room for improvement with Wanyama being just 21 years old.
Can he make an impact at Arsenal if we sign him?
