It is no secret that Hazard has long been a target of Arsene Wenger’s and it seems under the intense pressure he has been receiving amidst poor performances in the Premier League, he is willing to spend close to Lille’s £26m price tag in order to land the fast-footed winger.
With Hazard also keen on the move it has been estimated that Arsenal would only have to pay around the £23m mark to land the venomous attacking midfielder.
Reports suggest that an agreement has been made in principle, which is still highly speculative, but it has also been reported Hazard wants to ensure he would be able to play Champions League football which is already guaranteed at his current club Lille.
With the gunners in such disarray, the upcoming game against Udinese could easily define Arsenal’s season, with Champions League qualification not only having an impact with Hazard but also any other potential big signing that would first want to ensure they could play Champions League football.
If indeed we were to land someone of this calibre, Arsene would have finally made some right moves to appease disgruntled fans, including myself. But while Hazard would do wonders for our attack, a big question mark still hangs over our thin looking defence.

With many injuries sustained in our back-line, it is also imperative that Wenger signs an experienced centre-back to solidify our currently shaky defence. Jagielka or Cahill look to be Wenger’s preferred targets and hopefully more news on the two will surface in the last days of the transfer window.
