According to a number of sources including the Daily Mail, the Mirror and the Sun, initial talks with Arsenal talisman Robin van Persie have ended in a deadlock.
It has been reported that Van Persie met up with Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis to discuss his future yesterday (Wednesday) along with his representative Kees Vos.
According to each of the sources, Van Persie raised concerns about Arsenal’s ability to challenge for top honours next season and wants to see more top signings at Arsenal to prove their intentions.
Arsene Wenger, in response, is claimed to have said by the Daily Mail that with Podolski and prospective signings Yann M’Vila and Dortmund attacker Shinji Kagawa Arsenal can certainly do so.
Arsenal are reported to have offered Van Persie a three year deal worth £130,000 a week, but are apparently willing to play it tough if he refuses a contract extension by keeping him for the remaining year on his current contract.

Of course all these reports are speculation, but I have little doubt that each of the issues that have been reported are being talked about in the negotiations anyway.
While no official agreement has been reached as of yet, surely it would have been expected to some degree that nothing would have happened from the initial stages of negotiations anyway, especially when it was expected Van Persie would be haggling the board. But that is my personal opinion.
What do you guys think? Should we be starting to get worried? Do you think Van Persie will stay? If you think he will leave, what club do you think he will go to? Feel free to leave a comment below or discuss this topic in the allArsenal.com forums here.
