It is reported Juventus have £18m at their disposal this coming summer and have made both midfielders their top priority.
Alex Song has been an integral part of Arsenal’s midfield this season and with two years still to run on his contract, it is extremely unlikely Arsene Wenger will sanction such a move away from the Emirates given his importance to the team and Juventus’ relatively low finances.
While he is primarily suited to a holding role in midfield his talents do not stop there with Song contributing with several very important assists this season, including the recent assist for Van Persie’s spectacular last-minute volley to beat Liverpool.
But reports claim that the Cameroon midfielder may want to change things up after experiencing what will be his seventh consecutive season without silverware, although nothing concrete supports such a statement.
A ‘Juve source’ has been claimed as saying:
We need to back our plans for a strong European campaign by reinforcing the squad in some key positions — and Essien and Song are under review.
