According to news source Bild, German striker Lukas Podolski could leave Koln for as little as £5m if the German side are relegated and lose their Bundesliga status.
If the German club aren’t able to avoid the drop according to the Bild there is a clause in Podolski’s contract that allows him to leave the club for a knockdown price.
The front-man has been in prolific form this season despite the relative failures of his boy-hood club, who sit only three points above the relegation zone.
Podolski notched up his 16th goal out of 20 Bundesliga games against Hoffenheim at the weekend and also has four assists to his name this campaign.
There has been much speculation over Podolski’s future with many sources indicating that the German has already agreed personal terms Arsenal, although at this point nothing is concrete.
It is reported that Koln are resigned to losing their star striker for anything less than £15m and have also been trying to negotiate a contract extension, but to no avail.

If the contract clause is to be believed, it can only mean good news for Arsenal as his price more closely aligns with Wenger’s transfer policy around not paying inflated prices for players and Koln’s negotiating power is effectively nullified. The German would definitely be welcome at the Emirates considering his quality compared to our current strikers!
