Arsenal target Adrian Lopez has denied any rumours linking him with a move away this winter, stating his happiness at Athletico Madrid.
The La Liga side have been in blistering form this season, currently situated second on the table above rivals Real Madrid. Lopez has not played an instrumental part with the antics of Falcao, but nevertheless he wishes to remain with the Spanish outfit for the time being despite interest from abroad.
The Gunners are desperate for a striker to lead the line, and Wenger had reportedly earmarked the versatile Spanish international to be the man to provide options up front.
But Lopez has been quick to quell any such rumours, stating that he ignores any talk of an exit. He told Marca:
I try to isolate myself from the rumours. We are used to them and do not take them seriously. I am very happy at Atletico.
I am happy here and it is my intention to continue here. The good thing at the moment is that the team is doing very well. I would like to stay for a while yet.
Arsenal’s buying options up front are beginning to dwindle with the likes of Demba Ba, Loic Remy, Huntelaar, Zaha and Llorente either joining other clubs or agreeing new deals – the latter is likely to head to Juve, Zaha to Utd. The blow that Lopez will not be eager to move this winter further questions whether Arsenal are actually going to buy a quality forward this January.

Rumours have cooled about Robert Lewandowski whose contract is starting to wind down, while Cavani is far too expensive once you add a colossal £40-50m transfer fee plus massive wages of over £100k a week. David Villa seems unlikely, he’s gaining playing time with Barca so why on earth would he move to the Gunners when he may only win the FA Cup this season.
Lewandowski is probably the best option with his contract set to expire in 2014, however he has reportedly signed a pre-agreement with Manchester United ahead of a summer move to the current League leaders, but it’s hard to see how they plan to fit in another striker among their ranks.
