It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Spainish giants Real Madrid are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £30m bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie in the coming transfer window, but is definitely a story that should be taken with a huge chunk of rock salt,
They claim that Mourinho wants to bolster his attacking options with an out-and-out goalscorer like Van Persie in order to keep the pressure on arch rivals Barcelona.
It is no secret that the Dutchman is wanting to stall contract negotiations until the end of the season following the departures of both Cesc and Samir last summer and also due to Arsenal’s horror start to the campaign this season.
The Arsenal captain inspired the team to a nervy win over Sunderland with a cool finish in the opening minute of the match and a brilliant free kick eight minutes from time to seal all three points.
Personally, I don’t see much substance to this report but there is always a chance it could be true. I couldn’t see Robin leaving Arsenal halfway through a campaign, especially as the newly appointed captain of the club. But in saying this I also feel that quality signings in January would greatly boost our chances of keeping the Dutchman beyond next summer. What do you guys think?
