Long term Arsenal target Yann M’Vila is closing in on move to fellow Londoners Queens Park Rangers according to L’Equipe.
The defensive midfielder has been long linked with a move away from Rennes, and it appears now that QPR boss Harry Redknapp is in the box seat to sign the 22-year-old.
Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the French international, however his disciplinary issues have cast major doubt over his rumoured move to North London despite Rennes declaring the star can leave at the right price.
Redknapp was at Rennes’ Ligue 1 match against Bordeaux yesterday and is working on bringing in the combative midfielder to QPR this month, which would be a real coup for the struggling Premier League side. Rennes are reportedly holding out for a reasonably substantial fee of €12M.
Arsenal require a defensive midfielder in the mould of M’Vila, and he seemed like a certain buy over the summer after Alex Song was sold to Barcelona, however Rennes valuation of the player was almost double what they are now asking.

It seems a shame to miss out on the youngster who has an abundance of talent and physically is the type of player the Gunners need in midfield to shield the defence. But there are understandable concerns over his discipline with the midfielder receiving a hefty ban from international football until 2014 due to a series of Balotelli-esk moments.
With the Spuds reportedly interested in M’Vila also, the best outcome for Arsenal would be for the midfielder to join QPR, adjust to English life, get his career back on track, the Club gets relegated and Wenger could then acquire him if he is still needed. Seems far fetched, but at least another transfer target won’t be joining our arch rivals like Vertonghen in the summer, and Holtby soon to follow.
