The final steps seemed to be close to completion for the deal in a reported £10.9million deal with the Bundesliga club Cologne, however his latest comments suggest the German striker is keen to link up with his international team mate Miroslav Klose in Rome.
Podolski told Corriere dello Sport:
It would be great to play alongside him again. Miro has spoken well of Lazio and he’s happy in Rome.
But my future has yet to be decided.
It is extremely unlikely that Podolski will reject a move to Arsenal in favour of the italian side, the Gunners are a far better side with the lucrative offer of Champions League football likely to be on the table, and the German international has already admitted that he will be heading to England next season. Don’t let this rumour ruin the hope of Arsenal signing a top class player this summer, it will still happen!
One rumour that won’t turn into reality is Del Piero to the Gunners. The Daily Mail have conjured some hilarious transfer gossip linking the Italian veteran striker to Arsenal as the 37-year-old’s contract is due to expire with Juventus.

Del Piero’s brother and agent, Stefano, admitted that the prolific striker is unlikely to remain in Italy after such a long period with the Seria A giants.
He told Ilsussidiario.net:
There is no news at the moment but all the doors are open for a move away from Turin.
There are no restrictions from our part. It all depends on what type of project a club has and what is exactly behind the proposal and the kind of football which would attract Alex, but the main interest is the project.’
I think that after 20 years with Juventus and having given his availability to the club to sign a new deal since last February, it is now very difficult to remain in Italy.
We are not close to anything, but I think it will be hard to remain in Serie A.
It seems that any player listed for a transfer or has hinted on leaving their current club is linked with Arsenal these days, and a huge majority of these rumours are simply out of the blue. Del Piero to Arsenal? Really? More Daily Mail fabrication!
