Wenger is reportedly keen to sign the German international from Cologne for £20million in January in a bid to share the goal scoring load with captain Robin van Persie after Chamakh and Park have proven they are not yet up to scratch.
Podolski is unhappy with his sides performances after losing four of their last six games, consequently they sit just five points off the foot of the Bundesliga table. His contract is due to expire in 2013, and talks over a possible extension has stalled as he looks set to make a move for a bigger club and a fresh challenge..
Asked about Arsenal’s interest, the 26-year-old said with a smile:
Arsenal are a top club. They have a good team and play right at the top level in England.
[on a possible move] My family and friends may live here, but if I am in top condition, then I think I could fit into any side in Europe. I am not forced to stay only in Cologne.
They are already out of the German cup, are not playing in Europe and are having an abysmal season so he could even jump ship come January. Will Wenger fork out the £20million? It is fair price for a star striker that’s performed very highly for a number of years for the German national side and has been in excellent form this season despite his clubs slump down the table netting 9 nine in only 12 appearances this season.
