This transfer window is beginning to look like a typical Arsenal cliche, with the news that the Gunners are set to sign a very promising young English player.
Everyone knows that we are closing in on Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre with some reports suggesting that he has already passed the medical, but now reports are claiming that we are close to signing another promising youngster in the form of Aston Villa’s Dan Crowley. It is being revealed by Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth Website that the 15 year-old midfielder (also referred to as the “New Jack Wilshere”) is due at London Colney today to seal the move.
The website stated:
Arsenal will complete the signing of talented Aston Villa midfielder Dan Crowley tomorrow, with the England U17 international due at London Colney to finalise his move to the club.
It is expected that the signing of Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre will also be completed in the forthcoming days. Whilst Sanogo will go straight into the first-team squad for the forthcoming campaign, Crowley, who is regarded as one of the country’s outstanding prospects, is expected to begin life at Arsenal in the U18s.
With Arsene Wenger openly stating that he wants a British core to his Arsenal squad to stay for the next decade it is no big surprise that he has nabbed Crowley, who is already in the England U17s despite his young age. Arsenal will have to pay Villa a training compensation fee, which could be as high as one million Pounds if he keeps on progressing at this rate.
The midfielder has turned all the scouting eyes towards him with some stunning displays of his play making abilities in the U-18 league. Dan Crowley will join the batch of highly talented Arsenal central-midfielders – Kristoffer Olsson, Jon Toral, Gedion Zelalem and Jack Jebb.
The player in all probability will be rushed into the U 18 Arsenal academy after it was revealed that Arsenal have released 10 youth players which comprised of some promising players such as Sanchez Watt, Conor Henderson, Jernade Meade, and the two keepers James Shea and Reice Charles-Cook.

He is widely considered as one of the best prospects in the country, and with the Gunners continuing their drive for English talent, he fits the bill perfectly. Crowley’s style of play is often compared to that of Fabregas and Wilshere, so Arsenal getting him for as little as £1million is a risk worth taking. He can now develop under the tutelage of Wenger and may be one day reach the level of Wilshere.
Can he become the next Wishere?
