The Frenchman has never really become a first team regular since his arrival in 2010, making just 23 appearances, and he was deemed surplus to Wenger’s plans last summer however a permanent move never emerged in the last transfer window.
French Radio station RMC have too reported that ‘Toto’ is set to join the French second-tier side, apparently it may involve a loan move first with the option to buy at the end of the season, and RMC have also suggested that negotiations already at an advanced stage.
This will be music to many Gooner’s ears that Squillaci’s stay in North London is finally ending as he has, just simply put, not been good enough. Monaco are keen to bolster their side and make a charge for French’s first division after some overseas investment, and Squillaci could be an experience head that can help provide some stability at the club.
I can’t wait to see Squillaci’s name off the wage list really as it can hopefully open up more opportunities for Wenger to purchase better players, especially some decent cover in the wide defensive positions.
