Some positive news for the Gunners this morning as Jack Wilshere’s scan has revealed only minor inflammation, so no length layoff which is welcomed news admist injuries worries with both Walcott and Diaby still out.
Wilshere tweeted: ‘Ankle scan just showed some inflammation. Hopefully will settle down in a few days.’
Wenger did previously state that it was not very serious, but it was serious enough concern for a weeks rest. He did anticipate a quick recovery for Wilshere:
“He is a quick healer usually and a tough boy, so I hope he will heal more quickly than the medical prediction”
‘The England game is on August 10. If he’s out next week, then he won’t play against Benfica, so he certainly won’t play in the England game.’
It will be positive from Wenger’s point of view that the young Englishman will be rested for England’s friendly as the last thing we need is a more serious injury, so fingers crossed he stays fit for the first Premier League outing on the Geordie Shore in two weeks time.
