An unnamed Arsenal scout has seemingly leaked some transfer secrets, and claims Arsene Wenger was interested in signing Tottenham new-boy Son Heung Min this past summer.
The report comes from The Secret Footballer, who claims he spoke to an Arsenal scout friend of his about our dealings – or lack-there-of – this past summer. He gives details of an Arsenal scouting report for Son, where he likens the Tottenham man to Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg.
The report highlighted the South Korean’s fitness, work-rate, goalscoring ability, and suggested he could play for Arsenal “ALL DAY LONG!!”.
It goes on to say that we watched him 30 times last season, and that it was only Arsene Wenger’s indecisiveness that prevented us from signing him.
Whether Son is really the player we should have signed this past summer is debatable, and there are certainly far better options out there. But the fact that Wenger appeared keen on so many players and yet failed to bring any of them to the club sends alarm bells ringing.

Wenger still seems to be the right man for the Arsenal job, and our current glut of injuries aside we look capable of enjoying a stellar season. He clearly has issues in the transfer market though, and that’s something that really needs to change.
