We have recently been linked with talented Velez Sarsfield forward Maxi Romero, and have now sent chief negotiator Dick Law to finalise a deal, according to the Daily Mail.
The 16-year-old has been compared to Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi, with his quick feet and fantastic dribbling skills catching the eye of many top teams, claims the report.
The Daily Mail claim we are close to agreeing a £4.5m deal for the talented starlet, with ownership rights the only thing currently standing between us and our new signing.
European leagues have been cracking down when it comes to third-party ownership, and Romero is currently co-owned by both his club and his agent. Law will have to resolve the situation before negotiations can continue, but the fact that he has flown all the way to Argentina can only be a good sign for our chances of acquiring the superb talent.

Even if a deal is struck, we are unlikely to see him in an Arsenal shirt any time soon. He would presumably remain with Velez Sarsfield until a work-permit can be arranged, which could be at least a couple of years.
We are known for our youth set-up at Arsenal, so it would be fantastic to have the next Lionel Messi among our ranks.
