A world class forward is seemingly top of our transfer list this summer, with links to the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema in recent weeks (via The Telegraph). The latest reports suggest we are plotting a massive £50m move for Marco Reus however, with the Borussia Dortmund star set to leave the Westfalenstadion this summer, according to the Express.
The Express’ report claims we are facing competition from Liverpool, but a move to the Emirates would presumably be a far more appealing prospect.
We were struggling financially for years when the stadium was being built, and were unable to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in the transfer market. We have come through the economic mire however, and are now able to spend freely if we find the right player.
As the report suggests, Arsenal director Lord Harris recently spoke about the massive £200m war chest available to Arsene Wenger this summer – if he decides to use it.
While we are realistically unlikely to actually have access to that much, we should be able to afford to splash the cash on a marquee signing like Reus.

Many Arsenal fans would probably prefer to see Real Madrid striker Benzema arrive at the club, but Reus would still be an excellent addition. He is a truly world class German international, who missed out on their World Cup win only due to injury. Is he worth £50m though?
