There’s good news on the injury front heading into the new year, with a return date set for our talismanic forward Alexis Sanchez and good news for Jack Wilshere too, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Chilean’s injury initially suffered against Norwich in November didn’t seem too bad, and after returning to training it seemed as though he’d be back in action sooner rather than later. We’ve been without him for quite some time now though, and his return will be a welcome boon.
Sky Sports claims we can expect the former Barcelona star to be back in time for our FA Cup clash with Sunderland on January 9th, although it would be nice to hear confirmation from Arsene Wenger or Arsenal themselves.
We haven’t exactly struggled in Alexis’ absence, and after a 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Monday we’re heading into the new year at the top of the table. His incredible work-ethic and energy would have been a huge boost during our catastrophic 4-0 loss against Southampton though, and you have to imagine that the team wouldn’t have looked as lethargic with him in the side.
The report also reveals good news where Jack Wilshere is concerned, with the midfielder still on course for a February return. The recent whispers have suggested he was on course to miss the entirety of the campaign, but Sky Sports have quashed those rumours.

We’re in an excellent position heading into the new year and the January transfer window, and with a couple of signings and the players we have returning from injury, we should really be expecting to push on and cement our place atop the table in 2016.
