Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal after the Chilean star competes in this season’s Copa America, according to DIRECTV Sports reporter Hernán Feler.

The rumours surrounding Vidal have emerged rather dramatically (via the Standard), and it seems as though South American reporters are receiving the same information as various Italian journalists.
Vidal is currently on course to potentially achieve a sensational treble at Juventus; having already claimed the title and Coppa Italia, a Champions League final against Barcelona awaits.
However, his position throughout the season in Juventus’ big games makes it rather unusual that Arsene Wenger would target such a player.

Vidal was deployed – and flourished – at the tip of a midfield diamond against Real Madrid, a position we now have Mesut Özil shining in.
With our needs elsewhere, mainly in holding midfield, Wenger should focus his time and finances on other targets capable of fulfilling the positions we need.
Too many times have we become distracted by world-class players who’ve become available, and inevitably fail to strengthen in areas that need urgent attention.
Vidal? Thanks, but no thanks.
