Arsenal are set to secure our first summer signing with the deal to sign Petr Cech edging closer by the day and reports suggest that Roman Abramovich is ready to sign off the deal, El Confidencial’s Kike Marin reports.

Cech is reportedly one of our main transfer targets this summer and despite Jose Mourinho’s reluctance to do business with us, Kike Marin reports that this deal will be sanctioned right from the top of Chelsea Football Club.
After the return of Thibaut Courtois, Cech has experienced one of his most difficult campaigns, making just 16 appearances in all competitions.
At the age of 33, he’s currently entering the prime years of his career. The goalkeeper would likely become a huge asset to our squad if we’re to clinch our first league title since 2004.

It is an accepted notion that any team with aspirations to win the Premier League must have a top class shot-stopper and the fact that Cech is three clean sheets away from breaking David James’ record with the most clean sheets in Premier League history (via talkSPORT), his pedigree is unmatched.
What Arsene Wenger decides to do with our current options will be interesting but even David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny would hopefully understand that they’re a level below Cech.
