Arsene Wenger has claimed that Arsenal have completed the signing of 20-year-old defender, Cohen Brammal. The youngster has been on trial at the club during the last couple of weeks from his non-league side, Hednesford Town (via The Metro).
After the emergence of players like Jamie Vardy, many clubs are looking at the lower leagues of England in pursuit of future transfers. Arsenal already picked up Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers in League 1 last summer, and are now looking even further down the football pyramid.
The Gunners have reportedly completed the signing of a player who currently plays for Evo-Stick Northern Premier League side, Hednesford Town. The man in question is 20-year-old Cohen Brammal, a left-back who has spent the last couple of weeks on loan at Arsenal from his parent club. Arsene Wenger claims that a deal is done with Sky Sports toting a fee of around £40,000.
“Cohen Brammal has signed for us. He’s an exceptional physical talent.” Wenger told beINSPORTS.
“I don’t think he’s ready, today, to play in Premier League but he has similarities to a young Ashley Cole.”
The Gunners already have Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs in that position but both players are 27 or over. It’s unclear just how close Cohen Brammal is to the first team but given the price, he could be worth a gamble.

There must be hundreds of lower league players who haven’t made it to the top just because they haven’t been given an opportunity. It’s good that Arsenal are looking towards the lower leagues because as the signing of Rob Holding shows, there are quality players down there.
