Arsenal are reportedly set to reignite their interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot in January, according to reports in the Mirror.
The Gunners were linked with the Paris Saint Germain midfielder in the summer but were unable to finalise a deal with the French champions.
However, the report states that Wenger is still trying to get Rabiot and the North London club will go back for him in January as the French under-21 prospect’s contract expires next summer. They face competition from Italian giants Roma who also tried to get him last month but the Gunners are stepping up their efforts.
It further states that the French giants are trying to get the youngster to sign a new long term contract to stop him leaving on the cheap. Arsenal could potentially wait until next summer but they are putting in the groundwork now by sounding out Rabiot’s representatives.
The Gunners may offer him more opportunities as PSG have spent big in recent seasons and there has been internal conflict at the French club about not giving home grown players a chance.

Style of Play and Key Stats:
Rabiot is capable of playing anywhere in the midfield, from the holding role to a more box to box, attacking role. He is accurate with his passes and mainly likes to play short. He is an engine in the midfield constantly running ahead and tracking back. His vision and positioning helps him exploit the smallest of spaces on the pitch while he can also cleverly create space for himself and his teammates.
The youngster represented the French club 25 times last season scoring only 2 goals, but created 12 goal scoring chances. He is very consistent in finding his team mates as he averages a great pass accuracy of 90% and is also good with his shots on goal averaging a 39% shot accuracy.
Should we Buy?
The Gunners are in desperate need of an athletic defensive midfielder to replace Mikel Arteta and while the issue wasn’t solved in the summer, hopefully Wenger will address it when transfer window re-opens in January.
Rabiot would be an interesting choice as he’s a hugely talented player and is also capable of playing at centre-back, which is another area in which we are short of players, so hopefully we’ll be able to persuade him to move to the Emirates. Wenger’s reputation for getting the best out of promising young talents is well known; and if he pushes hard enough for a personal audience with the 19 year old, then the youngster should be convinced to pick Arsenal over anywhere else.
