Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam, with the full-back growing restless following Rafel Benitez’s departure to Real Madrid, the Metro reports.
A left-back by trade, the report suggest that we’re likely to make a £9million move, and are facing little competition in the race to sign the Algerian international.
Following the arrival of Petr Cech, the focus has immediately turned to who we’ll bring in next, but few will expect us to strengthen the left-back position.

Nacho Monreal has recently assumed that role with great authority and has matched any full-back in the country in terms of consistency throughout last season.
The fact that he’s currently keeping an England international in Kieran Gibbs out of the side shows the strength in depth we have in that position.

In terms of our squad, Arsene Wenger is probably happy with the strength and quality we have in each position. We currently have eight first team defenders for four positions, the type of depth needed when aiming to sustain a title challenge.
It would therefore be a major surprise for Wenger to add another number in that department, with no sign of anyone leaving in the near future.
A holding midfielder or a striker should be top of Wenger’s list of priorities for the remainder of the summer.
