Despite our newfound financial clout, Arsene Wenger clearly isn’t giving up his policy on youth. The Arsenal boss is apparently looking to sign “the next Cesc Fabregas” from Real Betis, with Dani Ceballos set for a La Liga exit this summer, as reported by the Express.
The 18-year-old is one of the most highly rated youngster in Spain at the moment, and Real Betis are trying desperately hard to keep hold of him. With the Express reporting that both Arsenal and Juventus are chasing his signature though, it seems like it will be a lesson in futility.
A creative midfielder is certainly not what we need at the moment, as we currently boast a plethora of options in that department. The starlet would be one for the future though, and could prove to be an excellent investment if we can lure him away from La Liga this summer.
We still need to make sure we are investing for the future, but it can’t be a priority at this point. With our years of patience seeing us back among the big boys in terms of financial firepower, we need to be focusing on strengthening our starting XI. We are so close to building a truly top class team, but we are still lacking one or two world class stars.
