Arsenal and Manchester United have been told that they have maintained the best quality pitches in the Premier League, following an investigation from Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI).
Arsenal transfer rumours
It’s the second season in succession that the Emirates Stadium has shared the Barclays Grounds Team of the Year award, with Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium our fellow winners in 2014.
The award is a credit to Paul Aschroft and his team who always keep our North London home in such fine condition.
According to the Premier League’s official website, the quality of the Emirates and Old Trafford received special recognition due to the importance of quality pitches for professional football.
The STRI hope to encourage all groundstaff to produce high-quality pitches and acknowledge the head groundsmen and their staff who produce the best playing surfaces in each division.

Aston Villa, Southampton and Swansea City were also highly commended this year, although there was no mention of league leaders Chelsea and Stamford Bridge. Liverpool’s Anfield and Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium also missed out.
We love the Emirates pitch, and for the most part of this season, our players have too. More of the same please, groundsmen!
